BERLIN — The Germany-based
organization “Opportunities“ has nominated Syriac-Assyrian Nahren Youssef
for its 2025 Social Diversity Award in the ”Inspiring Person of the
Year” category.
Youssef, a Syriac-Assyrian activist, researcher and student, was
selected for her impactful efforts in supporting immigrant women and promoting
social equity.
In a reaction, she expressed that the nomination highlights the
resilience of refugees who rebuild their lives from scratch while contributing
to their new communities.
“I hope this recognition opens doors to larger projects supporting women
and children,” Yusuf stated, calling for votes and solidarity from the
Syriac–Assyrian people around the world.
Currently a mother of 2 children, Nahren Youssef migrated with
her family from the Khabur River Valley in Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) to Germany
during her childhood.
She is the only Syriac-Assyrian nominee among this year’s
finalists.
