   On 25/02/2013,a delegation from the Chaldean Syriac Assyrian Popular Council (Soraya), visited Patriarch Mar Louis Raphael I Sacco, patriarch of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the world, at the headquarters of the Patriarchate in Baghdad.
   The delegation included the Messrs. Shams Aldeen Georgis, chairman of the Council, Salem Youno, Council Secretary, Sabah Alqas Ephraim, member of the executive branch, Halan H. Georges, member of the PC, Johnson Aghajan, official of the PC’s office in Baghdad and Alaa Faraj, member of Baghdad office.
   The delegation congratulated His Beatitude Mar Louis on the occasion of his election as the patriarch of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the world, wishing him all the success in his pastoral duties, in order to lead the church to safety under the extremely difficult conditions the country is going through.
   During the meeting, the two sides discussed many issues that concern our people in homeland and the Diaspora, the role of the church and our people’s political organizations and institutions in stopping the migration, and finding the ways to reduce the suffering of our people and the challenges they face in the current stage; his Beatitude stressed on the need for cooperation and coordination between the leaders of the Christian communities in Iraq, in order to come out with one position and united speech towards the crucial issues that serve the CSA people, especially in this difficult stage the country is going through, also to work to consolidate the principles of brotherhood and to spread the concepts of peace and coexistence among all the components in Iraqi.
   The delegation wished Mar Louis good health, safety and long life, to serve the Church, the people and the nation.
   For his part, the Patriarch expressed his deep thanks and gratitude for the visit, stressing on his support for all the efforts made to unify our people and to enhance their historical presence in the land of our forefathers.
