In a second letter sent by Mr. Madloum Mrouki representative of the Chaldean
Syriac Assyrian Popular Council in Canada to Mr. Justin Trudeau, Canadian Prime
Minister, requesting him the inclusion of the displaced Iraqi Christians in the
Canadian government's decision to bring in (25) thousand refugees of Syrians displaced
only. The letter stated: “We do not begrudge anyone, because the Syrians
displaced are dear to us as well and they deserve it, but the Canadian
government must not forget the suffering of the displaced Iraqi Christians from
the brutality and the injustice of the terrorists of the Islamic State (Daesh)”,
and he continued: “I remind you Mr. Prime Minister that there are thousands of
displaced Iraqis who are still living away from their homes and villages for
more than a year now.”
Mr. Mrouki stressed in his message: “You must have heard about the Iraqi
Christian family that was swallowed by sea (they were 7 persons) as they tried
to escape from the killing and destruction zone into the unknown, as this poor
family realized that there is no room there for hosting in Canada (according to
your decision) so decided to try the Sea and death instead”.
Mr. Madloum Mrouki had previously sent another strongly worded letter to Mr.
Trudeau opposing the Prime Minister's decision to withdraw Canadian combat
aircraft from the battlefield in Iraq and Syria against Daesh, asking him to
think deeply of the damage that this decision will cause on the overall
military operations against the Islamic State and the crimes committed against
humanity there.
