Mr. Loay Mikhail official of the
Foreign Relations Committee of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrian Popular Council attended
a conference at the Foreign Policy Initiative Center in Washington, which was
attended by a number of US Congress members, experts in the US foreign policy,
a number of officers in the Marine Corps and civil society and human rights organizations
in order to discuss the most important developments in the Middle East the continuous
war on Daesh in Iraq and Syria.
The conferees focused on three areas
they considered a priority at this critical stage: 1. the fight against Daesh
in all its forms by the international alliance and partners in the region,
especially after the Russian intervention in this crisis to eliminate the terrorist
organizations and root them out of Syria, which will turn the balances in the
region. 2. The protection of the refugees and the displaced that have fled the
ongoing violence in Iraq and Syria by Daesh, Al-Nusrah Front and other
extremist organizations. 3. The intensification of humanitarian and medical aid
to help those fleeing from violence until the end of the crisis in the region. The
attendees assured that this work is the responsibility of the United Nations
and the international community in order to alleviate the plight of the refugees.
