Mr. Madloum Marouki representative of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrian Popular
Council in Canada announced the PC's support for the ruling Conservative Party of
Canada in the next parliamentary elections, which will take place on the
nineteenth of October of this year. This position came as a result of the
considerable support and effective interaction played by the Canadian
government and its members in the Canadian Parliament with the situation in
Iraq, as they continued supporting the Iraqi people who were displaced from their
areas by the forces of terrorism represented by the Islamic State, especially
the aid they represent to the displaced, particularly the (Christians and
Yazidis) of Mosul and the Nineveh Plain.
Mr. Marouki said in a press statement, that “This position by the PC followed
the announcement of Mr. Justin Trudeau, leader of the Liberal Party who said
that if his party won the highest number of seats in the next elections and
assumed the presidency of the Canadian Government, it will withdraw the Canadian
troops serving with the international coalition in Iraq”. It should be noted
that the Canadian Forces provide substantial logistical support to Iraqi forces
and train many of the Iraqi military brigades as well as the Peshmerga forces so
as to stand against the terrorism of Islamic State gangs, Mr. Trudeau
announcement was disappointing to the international coalition that works to its
full potential to stop terrorism, in addition To the disappointment of the
Christian and the Yezidi people in Iraq and Syria from this negative attitude.
