News: The PC participates in the Oppressed Minorities Conference in Toronto

The Chaldean Syriac Assyrian Popular Council /Canada Branch participated in the conference called by the Rev. Majed El-Shafei, head of the (One Free World) Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday 25th  of October in the city of Ajax east of Toronto. The conference was attended by the representatives of associations, institutions and parties that represent the oppressed minorities in their own countries, including the Iraqi Christians and Yezidis, Pakistanis Christians, Armenians, Ukrainians and Chinese Christians, as well as other immigrants who left their home countries because of persecution and are living in Canada.
Mr. Madloum Marouki represented the Council along with a number of PC members, and he talked about the suffering of the Iraqi Christians who fled from Mosul and villages in the Nineveh Plain to the Kurdistan Region areas, because of the persecution they are exposed to by gangs of so-called Islamic State (Daesh), and he demanded the Canadian government to increase its support and assistance to them. The conference was attended by Mr. Christopher Alexander, Minister of Canadian Immigration and a number of activists in the field of human rights in addition to a number of workers in Canadian immigration organizations.
Mr. Majid Al-Shafei stressed on the need to work together as a one Canadian family of multiple cultures, languages​​ and races, and he said “We must live in peace and make the world live in peace”.
