In light of what appeared in the Canadian newspapers of the latest statements
for Mr. Justin Trudeau head of the Liberal Party of Canada (opposition), on his
objection to the decision of the Canadian government to provide military aid,
including air force strikes, within the international coalition to help Iraq to
fight Daesh terrorist gangs, the Chaldean
Syriac Assyrian Popular Council Office in Canada delivered a strongly worded
message to Mrs. Judy Sgro member of the Canadian Parliament for the opposition
party, explaining in it that this policy of the party is against the
aspirations of our Christian people in Iraq, who need to be helped to eliminate
terrorism so they can return to their homes and live in dignity and peace. The office
delegation, which included the gentlemen Madloum Marouki official of the Council,
Afram Eskandar Alhozi and Caesar Toma Mosa members of the Council, explained
the tragic situation experienced by the oppressed Christians who have been
displaced from the cities of Mosul and the villages in the Nineveh Plain, as
well as the Yezidis who have been displaced from Sinjar, plus other minorities.
At the same time, Mr. Marouki clarified that the displaced are in dire need of immediate
emergency and humanitarian aid. For her part, Ms. Sgro explained that she is
unable to do anything without going back to the party officials, adding that though
she is not in the ruling party’s combination but still she sympathizes with our
people’s tragedy and will work as much as possible to help them.
