Furtherance on the news published in several sites on the deployment of a peace
force to protect the Christians of Mosul and Nineveh Plain (also published in Ishtar
TV channel’s site), the representative of the channel in Canada met with Mr. Madloum
Marouki, representative of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrian Popular Council in Canada,
who was a member of the delegation that visited Washington, DC recently to
participate in the (Orient)conference, and asked him about the claim of deploying
an international force to protect the Christians of Mosul and Nineveh plain, where
he said:
“Our delegation included Mr. Luay Mikhail official of External Relations Office
in the Popular Council and Mr. Joseph Kassab, Director of the Iraqi Christians
Advocacy and Empowerment Institute (ICAE), where we participated in this
conference and met with a number of the U.S. Congress and the Senate members,
in addition to other political figures from England and Europe. other organizations
and associations, including the (Bet Nahrain National Union, Syriac Societies Federation
in Turkey, the Syriac Universal Party of Lebanon, the Syriac European Union, Bet
Nahrain Women's Union, Surroio American Association, the Chaldean Syriac Assyrian
Popular Council, the Iraqi Christians Advocacy and Empowerment Institute
(ICAE), the Assyrian American National Union, the World Council of Cedar
Revolution and World Maronite Union) also participated in the conference where
they all signed the formula of a joint statement on behalf of the members of the
Orient Organization of the Christians of the Middle East and the other Christian
organizations in the Middle East, which called on the International Community,
the U.S. administration, the Iraqi Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government
to launch an immediate response and decisive action to clear Mosul and Nineveh
Plain from the insurgents and to provide protection and urgent humanitarian
assistance to help those affected by violence.”
The statement urged strongly the United States and the European Union to appeal
to the Security Council to address this crisis by issuing a resolution under
Chapter 7 of the Charter of the United Nations, for the deployment of
international forces to protect the Christians in the Nineveh Plain and Mosul in
Iraq ... It is worth mentioning that the conference was attended by more than
15 members of the U.S. Congress.
