A delegation from the Chaldean Syriac
Assyrian Popular Council met on Wednesday, 15/04/2014 with the U.S. Ambassador
to Iraq in Erbil. The delegation included Jonson Syawesh, Assistant Chairman of
the PC and Khalis Esho head of the PC List in the Iraqi Parliament.
During the meeting, the PC’s delegation
presented the most important challenges facing our people, including the
attempts of the demographic change that are taking place in the regions of our
people in the Nineveh Plain and how to maintain the privacy of these areas.
The delegation also called on the U.S. Ambassador to support the adoption of our
people’s legitimate national rights, including the development of the province
in the Nineveh Plain and the autonomy in Kurdistan, as well as the displaced problem
in the Kurdistan Region and how to solve it.
On the other hand, the two parties
discussed the elections issue scheduled for the end of this month, the delegation
emphasized on how the displaced can vote, especially that the PC had called
attention to the subject to the elections Commission through its memorandum that
was submitted earlier, so as to open voting centers for them.
This meeting was also attended by Archbishop Mar Bashar Matti Warda Archbishop
of the Chaldean diocese of Erbil, also Dr. Saleem Al-Maqdisi member of
Kurdistan Parliament for the Mesopotamia Sons Entity and a number of the
embassy and the U.S. Consulate staff.
