A delegation from the Chaldean Syriac
Assyrian Popular Council headed by Fahmi Yousef Mansour, a member of the
Presidency of the Council and Adnan Odisho
Mando Council member, paid a visit to the Tigris ( Daqlt ) School for the Assyrian
language teaching, which will celebrate this year its forty years anniversary of
establishment. The delegation was met by a number of the faculty members, included:
Warda Dinkha - Nabil Kareem - Nimrod Slewa - Ninos Khoshaba - Sargon Lazar -
Sargon Odisho - Atour Mirza _ Deacon Georges Rashow _ Carmen Wilson and the school principal Carmen Lazar . After
a short break the delegation members toured the classrooms and met the students,
where they were briefed on the teaching methods and the curriculum taught on
mother tongue, and then they met with the rest of the faculty members including
the gentlemen: Deacon Essa Putros- George Ibrahim and Jacob Mer Aziz. The delegation
members were happy to see such an achievement and insistence on maintaining
this language and this immortal legacy. Noting that all the faculty staff are
volunteers who still devote time to work here even in the public holidays in Australia.
Ms. Carmen Lazar thanked the delegation
and wished them a pleasant stay in Australia, while Mr. Mansour promised to
overcome any difficulties facing the school, especially with the printing of
the educational pamphlets, saying that it is likelihood to print and donate them
to the school, because it deserves all the praise and support.
The delegation was also accompanied in
this visit by Mr. Elias Shamoun secretary of the PC office in Australia, Mr.
Putros Mikhail office member and Ghazi Mikhail director of Ishtar TV office in Sydney.
