The Gambian Omar Jawo
(Allafrica) SODERTALJE - Syrianska beat Kalmar FF 2 - 1 in an ever important match in Sodertalje, easing the concerns of regulations.
Head coach Ozcan Melke Michel hailed the result as extremely important but it was Kalmar, who started the match
stronger and clearly had great opportunities to win all three points.
Ricardo Santos got the first chance after he was left unmarked in the
area but his shot from close range was weak and didn't trouble keeper
Dwayne Miller who handled well.
Just a few minutes later, Daniel Mendes had a chance at the far post,
however, he was disrupted by Thymus who slid in with a last ditch
tackle as the ball hit the outside of the post and out for safety.
Santos later got another great chance when he ran through and picked
up a long ball. But the striker did not get enough power on his shot,
and Miller was again equal to the tame effort.
And instead totally against the run of play, it was Syrianska that
took the lead after they pressed the Kalmar FF midfield hard. New
acquisition Razak Omotoyssoi was quickest to meet the pass of Tobias
Carlsson after he was played in by Emir Nouri and finished clinically
into the far corner.
It was a great way to respond by the former Borussia Dortmund
midfielder Omotoyossi who only minutes earlier had limped off the field
to receive some treatment.
In the second half, the team from Sodertalje extended their lead to 2
- 0 after a super play by Sharbel Touma. 52 seconds had gone into the
half when he turned away a defender in the penalty area and put the ball
into the far corner.
Kalmar pulled a goal back moments later as the home side were made to
endure a nervy final minutes of the game but the closest they came to
getting an equaliser was when Erik Israelsson spurned a great
opportunity but other than that, they were nowhere closer to leveling.
"In this situation we find ourselves (in) so it was very nice. It was
tough at the end but we fought. Extremely, extremely, extremely
important" coach Ã-zkan Melke Michel told Swedish channel Canal Plus
after the game.
